Introduction
This document acts as an agreement between
the Club and its paid members. It should set out the commitment that the club
committee are making to run the club and its activities during the academic
year and explain to members what is expected of them. It should also act as a
point of reference for any disciplinary matters brought to the attention of the
Club Committee.
2.0
Club Membership
2.01 To be eligible to participate within any club activity, members must
have paid their appropriate fees and completed a membership form.
2.02 Membership for 20011/2012 is £80 for senior members, £56 for novice
members, £40 for coxes and £22 for land members
2.03 Land members will have access to circuit training sessions, land
training plans, discounted ball tickets, and discount for club socials. Senior
and novice members receive all of the benefits of the land membership, plus
access to rowing facilities and coaching.
2.04 All members must sign to say they have read the club’s code of
conduct and understand their responsibilities
3.0
Training
3.01 Attendance at water training sessions is required of all senior and
novice members. If not available to make a water training session, the member
must inform the appropriate parties, giving maximum amount of notice possible.
Attendance at circuit training is expected of all members
3.02 All members should arrive on time for water training sessions, so as
to minimise delays in getting on the water
3.03 Any club member running later for training should contact their
squad/team captain and/or coach as soon as possible.
3.04 If any club member arrives late for training sessions they should
convey their apologies to both coach and captain, and to other members
disrupted.
3.05 It is the responsibility of all members of the club to look after
the equipment they use. All damages, however caused, must be immediately
reported to the Boathouse Manager and recorded in the damages book
3.06 It is the responsibility of all members to report any incidents
while training. Incidents should be reported to the relevant squad captain who
will record the incident in the incident book, and notify the committee at the
next meeting
3.07 It is the responsibility of all members to act in a fashion while
training, which does not endanger any other member of the club, either on the
water or during land training.
3.08 Boats must be booked by captains in advance outings via the online
boat booking system
4.0
Race days
4.01 All members must arrive at the agreed departure time at the agreed
time. Lateness on race days will not be tolerated in any capacity. It is
advised that members arrive well before the agreed time. If members are
consistent in their lateness they may be removed from their team selections and
training schedule.
4.02 All members must ensure that their behaviour at race events
maintains the good impressions of the club, the Union, and the University as
well as the sport of rowing. This includes both professional behaviour when on
the water and around the race sites. Members must also maintain good conduct
when travelling to and from race events and when saying overnight between race
days.
4.03 The official colours of the Leeds University Union Boat Club are
Green, White and Maroon. Race kit is a club all-in-one. All members must be
identically dressed for race events. Members may wear any kit for training and
warming up for races, so long as it is suitable for rowing.
4.04 All racing members must purchase the following kit – tracksuit
elite, lycra all in one and, for men only, boat club ties.
4.05 Members will be given the opportunity to buy other Leeds University
Union Boat Club branded clothing at the start of each academic year.
5.0
Discipline/Complaints
5.01 Members wishing to object/complain concerning matters appertaining
to the club must express their dissatisfaction in person and in private to
their team or club captain.
5.02 All complaints must be discussed
5.03 Failure to comply with the clubs Code Of Practise may result in
disciplinary action by the club committee, which may lead to expulsion from the
club.
6.0
Tours/Tournaments/Training Camps
6.01 Organisation of tournaments, tours and training camps should be done
with the knowledge of the sports coordinator.
6.02 Itinerary drawn up and present to sports development co-ordinator.
6.03 Students Activities Health and Safety co-ordinator to be consulted
on the tour, tournament or training camp.
7.0
Account Signatories
7.01 Club Captain, Treasurer and Secretary must sign register with the
ARC cash office
7.02 Copies of signatories will be kept safe in the club file
8.0
Club Organisation
8.01 Members can expect that the committee will run all aspects of the
club in a professional and efficient manner. This includes management of club
activities, finances and communication.
8.02 Committee members must be available to answer questions or concerns
that club members might have about the way in which the club is run.
8.03 Club committee members will publicise their email address for
communication and endeavour to respond to any club related queries they receive
within a week.
9.0
Social Activities
9.01 Members are expected to behave responsibly at all times when
representing the University Of Leeds at matches, events fixtures and training.
This includes any related travel or social activity.
9.02 Adhere to LUU guidelines on social activities and make all members
aware of the disciplinary procedures in place.
9.03 The club will run two formal balls per year, at Christmas and in the
summer
10.0 Alumni
10.01The club will endeavour to keep a detailed record of as many alumni
of the University of Leeds who have been involved with the Boat Club.
10.02The club will organise at least one event where alumni are invited,
in addition to the Christmas and Summer Balls
